About Us

Boccemon has contributed to some of the finest recreational Bocce courts in North America.

Boccemon is a small family owned corporation operating on 100% Green Power. We produce at or near Zero Waste. Re-use and sustainability have been part of the business plan since conception. Today over 95% of packaging needs for our outbound products is utilized directly from post consumer waste items like super sacs and styro-foam or slip sheets and pallets. Our primary product is used for surfacing bocce courts and is an oyster blend.

Since the primary motivation for building our first court was to help inspire a sense of community in our own neighborhood, we felt that our business should be local in spirit. 90% of our suppliers and services are based within walking distance of our home. From banking and insurance, to promotional materials and web support, we can do it all within our neighborhood. Our ½ acre blending area and warehouse are 12 blocks away from home. We believe that when you buy from locally owned businesses it helps build the local economy and it transforms a housing and business district into a neighborhood. Neighborhoods today generally lack community. Ours used to.

If we build a court in Delaware our client has great expense in getting that court maintained or having improvements made. By putting that same client in touch with a contractor in Delaware they are ultimately better served. Then we provide that contractor the tools they need to build a premium court and back them up with great products and unmatched service.

Check out our Links page for suppliers of items we don't stock. For superior bocce balls contact Playaboule. For measuring devices check out the Joy of Bocce website. Rules are available through the US Bocce Federation site. These folks are great friends in our larger bocce community.

Today we are working on projects from the west to the east coast and most parts in between. We are also helping clients in our own community. Folks are attracted to us because we are deeply vested in the game. We provide chairs and balls for folks to come test out the surface and experience how different it is to play on a real court. Our Wednesday night games are advertised each Tuesday in the local paper. Everyone is invited! We organize the Bellingham Bay Bocce Tournament which contributes to local charities. Each year, it's the largest bocce tournament in the state of Washington. We have also played in tournaments around our state and taken family trips to tour courts in other states. Bocce is part of our daily routine and this is the reason you should be calling us. Although a majority of the projects we work on are for private individuals, we also work with municipalities. Our corporate clients include wineries, breweries, and large housing developments.

Our entry into the business of bocce wasn't financially motivated. In fact we are known to talk people out of buying our product if we feel their application won't benefit from its use. This is about a passion! It's about doing something well because you can! What good is a mediocre bocce court? Boccemon's founder, Tom McNutt, has been consulting with landscape and construction professionals since the mid 70's. People tell us they appreciate the time we have spent promoting and developing premium court packages. When we tell folks, yes, we can do that, the search stops and our clients can get on with the things they excel at. Everyone wins!

While more of our courts mature into premium surfaces more people are talking us up. From local coverage in the Bellingham Herald, to national publications like Kiplinger's(August 2004) and Popular Mechanics (July 2007) , to cable TV programs like the Do-it-yourself network, and the pages of the newly released book on the sport Joy of Bocce. by Mario Pagnoni. We are among the top 10 listings with all major search engines on the web under "bocce courts." In the fall of 2005, we shipped 12,000 lbs. of our oyster blend to the troops in Iraq, and by the summer of 2007, over half the states in the Union had courts surfaced by Boccemon. We are developing a contractor base across the country and finding that people are grateful for our commitment to their cause. We work with client's design ideas and collaborate with their builders. As we solve one client's problem, a solution is produced for clients we have yet to meet. We don't pretend to know all, but we want all to know us. We blend an awesome surface!

Our hope is that our clients will enjoy eating oysters and leave us to figure out how to use what's left.

Happy Bocce to You!
